Kayak, Canoe, Paddle board - your Club needs you

A volunteer is needed from the kayak, canoe, SUP community to act as your representative to the Committee and to promote safer paddling.

The Club owes a duty of care to its members and neighbours. This is an area we are lacking experience for paddle sports. So far the Club has carried out a risk assessment based on the British Canoeing guide lines and the British Canoeing Paddlesafer guide (one of our downloadable documents) details what is recommended.

Appropriate training would be available for the volunteer who committed time and effort in this role.

Please contact training@cycadmin.org if you are interested.

CYC Regatta cancelled

We are all deeply saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. She has been our monarch for our entire sailing lives, and together with the whole nation we shall miss her greatly.

This is a time for reflection and not to be holding parties, so we must cancel our Regatta this weekend. During the mourning period there will be no cadets, bar opening, or club events.

Some of you may be afloat, and for guidance of flag etiquette I refer you to the navy's protocol which will do nicely for us too,

"On the death of The Sovereign ensigns are flown at half-mast from the announcement of the death of The Sovereign up to the end of the day of the funeral, with the exception of Proclamation Day, when they are hoisted to the top of the flagpole from 11 am (local time) to sunset."

God bless the King
